This post is a bit overdue and there's a reason for that. I've been hard at work on a couple different projects that I'm trying to finish up before sharing. But oh, oh how hard that can be!
To summarize: I'm writing and collaborating on a bunch of new tunes. Also, the tweaking and mixing for my "serious" EP is wrapping up this month. The music video for "Ladies Don't Crap" is coming along nicely and I hope to post in the next blog about our super special release party that everybody can come to!
Now, about that LGBT open mic night I keep talking about...
The last Homoground Open Mic was a blast. Julie Schurr had the audience dancing, the Comedy Durham gang (Deb Aronin, Zack Yonk, Phillip Warren, et al) cracked us all up and Danni Sochet had the crowd singing along to "Don't Put That Thing in My Vagina." Evan Flewell (AKA Manet Jackson) covered "That's the Way Love Goes" before reading selections from the Adam & Eve catalog as David Attenborough.
The next Homoground Open Mic is September 16th and features singer-songwriter Chris McAuley & trans author/activist/humorist Sam Peterson. Mark your calendar!
You can RSVP on the Facebook page and meet fellow artsy queer folks & allies:
Seriously y'all, I want this to be inclusive and fun for everyone. Tell your friends who live in the sticks that there's a queer open mic right here in Durham. They're more than welcome. So are you.
